Legendary Albion snapper Laurie Rampling is proud to release his second book of the COVID-19 lockdown period.
Following the success of '1976 - A Promotion Tale And All That', this publication follows the story of yet another, eventual, successful period on the field for West Bromwich Albion Football Club.

In September, 1939 the German army rampaged across Europe, sending the World into the grip of tyranny once again and plunging the nation into the darkness of the Second World War.

West Bromwich Albion, relegated to the Second Division the season before the outbreak of hostilities, played just three games in 1939 before a halt was called to the Football League programme, which would not resume until August 1946.
The brave young Throstles that had swapped football kit for Khaki, and had thankfully survived the conflict, returned to The Hawthorns and along with Fred Everiss, very much the 'Father' of the Football Club, and Ephraim Smith set about rebuilding what five long years of attrition had stalled and with new manager, Mr Jack Smith, the first such appointment in the club's history, they set about overseeing the Throstles' return to their rightful nest - the First Division.
New heroes were born in Dave Walsh and skipper Jack Vernon, along with returning heroes like Billy Elliott and Len Millard and young blood in the form of Ray Barlow, Jim Sanders and Joe Kennedy.
This is their story, a story that chronicles their exploits from the darkness of War into the joy of Peace time and eventually Promotion, back to where the club rightfully belonged.

The book, which will be a limited edition run of just 750, was released on Friday 12th February 2021 and Laurie is donating all profits to The Albion Foundation , a cause close to his heart who do a fantastic job in the local community, as well as the Former Players' Association.
